Our Story
Dr Steve Tangney started Tidy Tooth in 2018. Prior to that the practice had been operational 40 years. Steve previously worked at Avenue Dental on the Sunshine Coast. A workplace that was awarded the best place to work in Australia in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and the 2nd best in all of Australasia. He also worked at a top clinic during his residency in London, Parrock Street Dental Care, and was honoured with a post graduate Cert. in Aesthetic & Cosmetic Dentistry in 2011. Steve brings all his experience, modern thinking and techniques to offer comprehensive and predictable dentistry to the South Coast.
We are Best Practice Accredited with the Australian Dental Association. This means the processes and systems we operate under have been scrutinised and are in line with Best Practice.
In July 2020, Dr Eoin Lehane and Anna-liisa Donnelley joined and we have expanded the opening hours and services we offer. Eoin became a co-owner in July 2022. We have also added some really exciting technology - An Airflow for better cleans and a Cerec System for making same day crowns. Steve also bought new dental chairs, sterilisers and revamped the reception area. We are not stopping there though...
We are currently setting up a new premises to expand our services further. The sister premises will be a custom built 4 surgery clinic. We were hoping to have this open by the end of 2021 after the fires & Covid put a halt to everything - new opening date is March 2023. We will be advertising shortly for new dental professionals to join our fun, approachable team. Let us know if you are interested in coming aboard. An option exists to join as a principal dentist also.
Steve is temporarily reducing his clinical hours to work on the smooth opening of our sister premises. The downside is that it may be more difficult to get an appointment in the short term, however the obvious upside is when we have greater capacity, it will be easier to get appointments again.

We believe in doing it right the first time. This is why we can stand over the quality of our work. We warranty the predicatable treatments we carry out. It's one of the reasons why so many of our patients are happy to move their dental care to us after retiring to the coast.
emergency appointments available daily
We specifically keep emergency appointments each day for patients with dental problems. This means that we are there for you when you need us most. We will do our best to get you out of pain and should further treatment be required we will arrange an appropriate time to deal with the issue fully. We have previously guaranteed these emergency appointments, unfortunately we can longer do this. This is despite increasing our opening hours and number of clinicians. That is one of the reasons we are building a second sister clinic on Train Street in Broulee due to open in March 2023. We have limited our intake of new patients to best accommodate our existing patient base.
locally owned & operated
We will remain locally owned and operated. We won't sell you out to corporations whose only priority is to maximise shareholder profits. We accept all health funds and veterans affairs, however, we have no contractual obligations to them. This means they can't dictate to us what treatments you can or can't have. We believe it is essential for you to maintain control and choice over your healthcare without the influence of shareholders and profiteers. We will work with you to achieve your individual dental wants and needs, and if you have a private health insurer we will help you get the maximum rebates available.

Rather than wasting money on advertising and marketing we prefer to invest in training, equipment & technology to improve our level of care and our job satisfaction. So you won't hear annoying radio adverts about us and we won't send you promotional group emails.
We are very excited with some new technology we have purchased recently. Two of the coolest things in dentistry! The newest generation of CEREC same day crown technology - this includes a digital scanner (no more impressions!), a milling unit and a furnace. This means we can manufacture our own crowns, bridges & implant crowns in house, start to finish in less than 2 hours! There is about 40-60minutes in the middle of the appointment where you can watch us scan, digitally design, mill and fire your crown. Really incredible technology that is a game changer for our patients.
Secondly, our amazing hygienist, Anna, has an Airflow unit. This makes having your teeth cleaned more comfortable, easier and quicker. It is exceptional at stain removal. This is what we are all about: investing in the latest technology to improve your experience with us.
We are a predominately referral based dental practice, which means we let the quality of our dental care speak for itself and we rely on word of mouth from our existing patients to help us grow sustainably. All this allows us to maintain a fair price structure and limit costs passed on to our community of patients.
