DR. STEVE TANGNEY

Steve moved from his native Ireland to Australia in 2011. After 6 years in Queensland, where he met his lovely wife, Chloe, they decided to take the plunge into ownership and set up in Batemans Bay in late 2017. Chloe and Steve have three young kids under 5 and love the lifestyle that the South Coast offers.

Steve has played soccer semi professionally in Australia and now togs out for Broulee, captaining them to a grand final victories in 2019, 2020 & 2021. He can be found running, snorkelling, golfing, changing nappies & walking his dog, Frankie.

Steve qualified in 2008 with honours from UCC, Ireland. He landed a job at Parrock Street Dental Care, where he practised for 3 years, earning a Cert in Aesthetic Dentistry in 2011 during his residency in London. He was recommended for the UK Young Dentist of the Year Award in 2010. He has considerable experience in digital dentistry. Steve has lectured in Ireland, and more recently for the Australian Graduate of the Year Residency which takes a small cohort of the best Australian graduates and hones their skills and knowledge for private practice through their 4 day mini residency program. Daily Steve uses the latest Cerec System (Primescan, Primemill and Furnace) which allows for crowns, bridges and implant crowns to be made in the same visit. The appointment takes about the same length of time as previously, without the need for returning for a second visit as with traditional crowns. Steve, along with Eoin, recently completed the Masters of Cerec course in Sydney - taking their Digital Dentistry skills to the next level.  He absolutely loves it and will no doubt wear the ear off you, telling you all about it when you meet. It is exceptional mind-blowing technology, and there are not many in Australia. The next closest one you'll find is in Canberra or Wollongong.

When the expansion of our Batemans Bay sister clinic is completed in March 2023 (the fires and COVID-19 had delayed this somewhat) we will have 4 more treatment rooms and even more cool equipment! If you are an Associate Dentist or Hygienist/OHT who would like to join our growing, fun practice, there will be great long term positions available in the near future. An option exists to join the practice as another principal dentist.

Steve is temporarily reducing his clinical hours to work on the smooth opening of our sister premises. The downside is that it may be more difficult to get an appointment in the short term, however the obvious upside is when we have greater capacity, it will be easier to get appointments again.

Eoin? Is the Irish version of the English name Owen - same pronunciation!

Eoin prides himself on delivering dental care of the highest quality for his patients in a gentle and caring manner. An Irish native, he qualified with honours from the University College of Cork in 2008. At this time he moved to London where he worked in private practice for the next 10 years. He built a reputation as a kind, caring dentist who is passionate about his work and always puts the needs of his patients first. Eoin became an equal co-owner of the practice in July 2022.

During his time in London he continued to educate himself, obtaining Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011 and more recently completing a four year postgraduate course in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics at King’s College London, graduating in 2018. Following this he left the UK and settled in Australia with his wife Kami who grew up in Adelaide.

Through a mix of clinical experience and education Eoin is confident in providing a wide range of restorative and cosmetic treatments of the highest quality as well as general care for the entire family. His special interests lie in indirect restorative techniques including crown, bridge and veneer work to restore both function and aesthetics as well as direct tooth coloured composite fillings and dentures.

In his spare time Eoin enjoys running, hiking, playing football, watching rugby and telling his groodle puppy Zoey what a good girl she is. He enjoys travelling with Kami and experiencing new cultures, foods and lifestyles.

ANNA-LIISA MATIKAINEN

Anna-liisa was born and raised in the Riverina area of Wagga Wagga. In 2007 Anna-liisa moved to Sydney and began her career as a dental assistant. During this time she developed a passion for all things teeth related and decided to take her career to the next level, returning to Wagga and completing a Bachelor of Oral Health at Charles Sturt University, graduating 2017. She is a dual qualified Dental Therapist & Dental Hygienist. We are very lucky to have her!

Anna-liisa is especially interested in prevention of gum disease, tooth decay and giving children a positive dental experience from a young age. She loves educating and passing on her knowledge to her patients so they can take great care of their mouths from home so dental aches and pains can be prevented. Anna-liisa gave a power point presentation on why our practice should have an Airflow. How could Steve not get one after such a sales pitch! The Airflow is the latest greatest technology for stain removal and cleaning. It makes the appointment more comfortable and the results are very impressive. Anna has completed her post graduate Advanced Scope training in 2022, meaning she now performs more complex restorative procedures.  This is in line with the practice philosophy of professional  development and ensuring we are constantly advancing our skills and knowledge.

After many years spent holidaying on the South Coast Anna decided it was too beautiful to leave and relocated to Batemans Bay in August 2018 and she makes the most of the beaches every spare moment she gets.

Anna loves exploring outdoors and can be found chasing her 2 children and their dogs, Pudding and Alice on the beach in her spare time. She also enjoys long distance running, skateboarding and snowboarding with her family and friends.

Stretching on a Cliff

Manesha was born and raised in Sydney, Manesha moved to Cairns up in Far North Queensland in 2015, looking for the coastal lifestyle as well as to study dentistry. She graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from James Cook University. Looking for more beaches, she moved down to the NSW South Coast and has been practicing for the last few years in Ulladulla.

Manesha loves all things dentistry, but her special interests lie in clear aligner therapy, colloquially known as “invisalign”. She is currently completing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Digital Orthodontics, in which she is deepening her understanding of the function and mechanics of clear aligners, so that you can have a straighter smile faster without the hassle and pain of braces. She is passionate in preventative orthodontics, where in catching things early in childhood there is a reduced need for invasive orthodontic treatment later on in life!

Outside of the dental world, Manesha is also a qualified yoga teacher. She spends her spare time practicing yoga, meditation, pilates and running up and down the beach with her cheeky schmoodle pup Zuko!

DR. MOLLY WILCOX

Molly is originally from Sydney where she graduated with a Degree in Science and a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Sydney. Molly and her partner Nick moved to the Hunter Valley in 2019 in search of a quiet rural lifestyle and, of course, the varied experience that rural dentistry offers. After adding 2 cattle dogs to the family the lifestyle has been anything but quiet however the work was as rewarding as expected and Molly enjoyed her time spent in Scone and Muswellbrook.

The South Coast has always been where the pair have wanted to end up. With Nick having grown up in Moruya, and with both have family residing on the coast, the area is very familiar to them. After experiencing several scorching Scone summers, they have decided now is the perfect time to escape the heat and make the move to the coast.

In her spare time Molly likes playing with her two dogs, Stella and Lily and spending time with family and friends. Molly has spent time further developing her skills in dentistry including the Masters of Cerec Course, Clear Braces and is always looking for new areas of dentistry and technology to explore. Molly works at both the Tidy Tooth Batemans Bay and Broulee.
